A guide to choosing the right size

Plant Wasabi in organic, loose, and crumbly soil with good drainage, but good moisture retention. Coarse sand can be added to improve drainage. The best temperature to grow Wasabi is between 46-70 degrees.

Can you eat wasabi leaves?

Leaves and stems can be served fresh or cooked. The relatively small amount of heat in the leaves and stems will diminish when cooked and taste similar to sautéed spinach and asparagus respectively. Another favorite use: Steak with fresh wasabi (and dipped in soy sauce).

Can you grow wasabi in pots?

If growing in containers, use a one or two-gallon pot with a 10-inch planting depth. Mix up some rich soil with compost; slightly heavier than potting mix medium, so it will hold moisture.
